Connecticut Travel Diary

In October we took a trip to Connecticut for a couple of events. Here are some memories from our amazing trip.   

On our way to the USA…

I like to dress comfy when I travel, so this trip I paired my jeans, sneakers, and sweatshirt with our fully Reversible Quilted Coat thrown over for comfort and warmth, as well as pulling together a pretty basic outfit and making me feel chic. Plus, it can double up as an extra blanket on the plane.

I have a couple of plane essentials that I always bring with me. I always bring my trusty Bose noise cancelling headphones and delve into some classics. This trip I managed to finally watch The Big Chill. I also like to travel with my Bio Recherche lip balm which actually stays on and leaves your lips nicely moist the entire flight.

Arrived at picture perfect Graybarns and was greeted by the most spectacular bright and sunny fall weather. Quintessential Americana.Day 1

Laura and I met at the Mercantile Café that is part of glorious Graybarns to grab ourselves a latte and go through choosing our latest images from our Partywear shoot, which we had just shot a few days  prior. We then headed out to see the barn and the rest of the hotel where we were hosting a few events in the coming days. We also took the opportunity to walk the neighbourhood and take in those quintessential American New England homes, replete with all the Halloween decorations and iconic American flags hanging off every porch.

I then headed into New Canaan to have lunch with my dear friend, Alicia and her dog Rooney. I liked how she had turned up the cuff on the Sailor Jeans and paired with a plaid shirt and sneakers.

Day 2

We headed off to our kind host Mimi’s Home in Greenwich Connecticut to say hi to all our wonderful clients who came from far and wide to see the latest Collection. We were debuting a preview of the Partywear Collection that had not yet even launched, so it was exciting for us to see the incredible response to our newest pieces. I was so grateful to be wearing our Lantern Dress in a stretch corduroy, as I was on my feet all day and moving around so much. Plus, I absolutely loved the colour and I knew it would work for dinner later on that evening.Later, I had supper at Graybarns and wore the same dress I had been wearing all day.

Weekend

I took the weekend off and relaxed with friends and changed into some of my more casual attire from the collection. Weekends are for relaxing after all.

I managed to pick up some American literature at the local bookstore and a few antiques from an English owned antique store in New Canaan. It’s looking like I might have to buy a new bag to get me home.

Day 7

To mark our time in Connecticut, we wanted to take advantage of such a beautiful backdrop and shot some of the Collection in and around where we were so fortunate to be staying. A little prelude to that evenings party we would be hosting at Graybarns later on.

The Party

Meanwhile, the table was being set for our dinner later that evening. We used local vendors and put together a delicious menu.

We got ready to welcome our guests for delicious cocktails by the outdoor fire and enjoy the herb garden before heading inside for a very giggly and fun dinner. It was so great to get to know our friends from across the pond and see so many gorgeous girls arrive fully kitted out in the latest Wiggy Kit .

Day 8

The next morning, we got up early to welcome our guests to our pop-up in the barn. Our Collection looked so at home in this incredible space. It was amazing to see so many of you come from so far to visit us. I hope you come visit us at our next US trunk show. Last Day

Dressed for the plane  and enjoying my last lunch and that incredible view Graybarns. You’ve been amazing Connecticut – We can’t wait to come back!
